THEY SAID IT
“It’s not a good idea, it’s not a bad idea — It’s a horrific idea. It would be one of the poorest things that we could do as a franchise. Are we gonna go find another guy for just a couple of years again? Haven’t we done this before? Haven’t we seen this act before? And by the way, if you get Peyton Manning, don’t you have a concern about protecting him? Don’t you have a concern about who he throws the football to?…“We’re tired of looking for stop gaps.” – Former Redskins quarterback Joe Theisman letting his feelings be known on what he thinks of Peyton Manning going to the Washington Redskins.

“Catholics are, in a sense, going to be forced to subsidize — through insurance payments — these activities that the church considers to be immoral. Everything we do in terms of service to the people has to come from a Catholic perspective because that’s who we are.” – Bishop Robert Guglielmone, of the Diocese of Charleston commenting on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ mandate that insurance plans include coverage for contraceptives.
“I was treated as someone with an agenda against the church, the police investigation was obstructed and the laity misled. I was distraught.” – Marie Collins, who was assaulted as a 13-year-old by a hospital chaplain. Marie was speaking this week at a four-day symposium at Rome’s Pontifical Gregorian University ahead of a May deadline to deliver their sex abuse policies to the Vatican.

“Online dating has some benefits, but accurate matching apparently isn’t one of them.” – Adi Robertson citing a study that is to be published in Psychological Science in the Public Interest. He goes on to say “A team of researchers led by Eli Finkel of Northwestern University has concluded that despite claims that ‘matching algorithms’ can predict long-term compatibility based on personality questionnaires and demographic information, the data that dating sites collect is barely relevant to how well a couple will weather challenges or even interact.
