After graduation from Indiana Wesleyan University, he and his wife Gwen served in pastoral ministries for nearly 30 years – most recently at Spring Lake Wesleyan Church in West Michigan. They have now been married for 34 years and have four children and six grandchildren.

In 2009, they answered the call to relocate to Budapest, Hungary where Dennis served as European Area Director for Global Partners. Europe, now the most unreached continent in the world, sealed their commitment to reach the global lost. In June 2012, Dennis was elected to the position of Global Partners Executive Director succeeding the retiring Dr. HC Wilson. His role is to give resourcing missional leadership to the National and Missionary work of The Wesleyan Church around the world.

In addition to sweeping social and economic instability, the policy has proven problematic on an individual level. An entire generation of Chinese has essentially grown up spoiled and without siblings. The resulting shift in social behavior is often referred to as the ‘little emperor effect.’

Why do we not teach new converts Philippians 1:29? ‘For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him.’ Not many churches today are raising up a generation of men and women who are prepared to risk it all for the sake of the gospel. Why? Because we have omitted the teaching about suffering saints. Could this be the reason that the American missionary is becoming a dying breed and most of them who do go, do not return for a second term?

Danita Estrella, founder of Hope for Haiti Children’s center, from her article “Why I’m Ashamed of the American Church.
